Appearance: Kohana is a petite framed young female. She is 5' 0" and weighs only around 96 lbs. She has long, aqua blue hair that extends past her knees and heterochromatic eyes, the left being green and the right being blue and she has soft, pale skin. She is rather short, being at only five feet in height, and has a rather petite build. Despite her small size, she does have her share of curves in all the right places. She has slender, yet toned arms and legs. Her hands and feet are rather small. She can fit a size five shoe easily. Her hands are soft and delicate in appearance. She has an average C cup bust, a slender, taut core, and hips that curve just enough to show she's female. She often wears traditional kimonos made of silks or cotton and likes wearing only sandals, if she wears shoes at all. The kimonos that she prefers often have either floral patterns or Koi designs on them. On other occasions, she's seen wearing the normal shinigami Shihakusho that consists of a white shitagi, a black kosode, a black hakama, an emerald green hakama-himo, white tabi, and waraji. She always wears a magenta colored rose pendant in her hair. She wears it on the right side of her head, keeping her long bangs out of her eyes. The pendant [as seen in my Avatar] is adorned with short strings of white pearls and ribbons. Her captain's haori is the normal white color with an emerald green lining. She keeps it pinned shut just below her bust with a magenta colored rose pin, similar to the ornament worn in her hair. She keeps her Zanpakuto on her left side due to being right handed. It is held in place by her hakama-himo.

Hobbies: Kohana spends her time making herbal remedies for herself and teas for several members of the Gotei 13, as well as spending time relaxing in her garden on the grounds behind the 4th division barracks.

Personality: Kohana is quiet natured and very peaceful. She doesn't speak much, but when she does, she is soft spoken and hard to hear. She's often times really shy around people she doesn't know, especially those of the opposite sex. she is quite intelligent, despite never really bothering to show it. She doesn't want to come off as arrogant. She is often a loner, and won't converse with anyone unless it is important, or worth her time. She is often misunderstood and seen as a cold individual due to her quiet behavior. She's not a killer. She values life far too much to ever take it. She prefers to talk things out. She's not one for confrontation or aggressive tactics. She's a patient person, often able to tolerate things that annoy her for a decent amount of time before finding a clever way to escape. She detests meetings unless her presence is specifically needed. She's not a huge fan of using healing Kido on herself. She prefers her herbal remedies over them, saying they're far more effective and less dangerous to her own body. She rarely shows her shikai, let alone her bankai unless it is truly required of her. Overall, she is an incredibly caring person and, despite her reserved nature, she'd drop everything to aide a wounded comrade. She doesn't care how severe the injuries are, she'll stop everything on a dime to help those who need it. She takes her job as 4th Captain very seriously, and prefers saving lives over taking them.

History/Background: Birth Arc: Born in North Rukongai, 33rd district to Marin and Hanataro Hirikano. Kohana was a rare thing to see. She was born with heterochromia, meaning the irises of her eyes were two separate colors. Her parents soon found out she had a twin in the womb, but the twin died during Marin's first trimester. Marin and Hanataro decided that it's best for Kohana not to know about the deceased twin. She was born completely healthy, and her parents had no idea of what the future held for their new baby girl, but somehow they knew they'd be proud.
Childhood Arc: Growing up, Kohana was quickly made an outsider. Her aqua blue hair and bi-colored eyes made her feared and often teased by the other children in the Rugonkai district. She spent a lot of her time alone, or with her mother in the gardens. She often read books on plants, learning more and more about them. She soon took a liking to herbal plants, and spent time raising and caring for Aloe Vera, among other herbal flowers and roots. Her favorite plant, however, was a Venus Flytrap that she affectionately named Midorihana. She raised the plant for three years until it reached full maturity, feeding it little flies and spiders that she caught in her mother's garden. Marin and Hanataro began to sense something odd growing with Kohana. Her spiritual pressure seemed to manifest itself from time to time as a bright green aura. At the age of thirteen, Kohana's Zanpakuto manifested itself. This act was witnessed by a captain of the thirteen court guard squads who was on patrol in the 33rd district. He spoke to Kohana's parents, and they agreed that she would attend the Shinigami academy.
Academy Arc: Kohana attended the academy for only a year and a half. She was far beyond the other students in the way of skill. Most Academy instructers called her a prodigy. At the time, she was one of the youngest shinigami to attend the Shinigami academy, let alone graduate at such an early age. She excelled at Kido, healing especially, and bakudo. Her weak point was destructive Hadou. She was skilled with her zanpakuto as well. She performed basic close quarters combat and sword combat skills with proficiency. For her graduation ceremony, she was required to prove that she could perform Shikai. While training for her test, she was pulled into her Zanpakuto's inner world where she crossed paths with her Zanpakuto spirit. She managed to attain the beasts name and soon was able to perform her Shikai. She trained with it for a few days until her graduation exam arrived. She was to perform Shikai in front of her instructers and a few captains of the thirteen Court Guard Squads. She did as expected, and passed the exams with ease, even gaining the attention of a few captains. She was eventually taken in as a seated officer of Squad four, the medical division.
Gotei 13 Arc: Starting out as the fifth seat in the 4th Division, Kohana was taught the basics of healing Kido and how to use her zanpakuto for medical purposes. Kohana, naturally, excelled in the arts, but often preferred the use of natural medicines that she makes for herself. She often made blood clotting ointments and burn relief salves for those who requested them. As time went by, Kohana fought her way up the ranks to Vice Captain. As the Vice Captain, she learned to truly awaken the healing powers of Ichirin no Hana. After training for a while, she had fully unlocked ther Zanpakuto's healing abilities, soon eliminating it's offensive abilities completely. Her main sourse of offensive tactics rest with her Kido skills and basic swordsmanship, along with hand to hand combat. After fifty years of serving as lieutenant, she became a candidate for Captain after attaining her Bankai. She proved herself worthy and was awarded the rank by defeating the former captain in combat. The former captain had no hard feelings. She was looking to retire anyway. Kohana now serves as the new head of the medical division, Captain of Squad Four.
